## My Journey

My journey with coffee didn’t start with much enthusiasm. While I was in school, I drank coffee without any particular ambition. Around 2010, I discovered alternative methods of brewing coffee. That’s when I realized that coffee can be purely about flavor, not just “hot water with caffeine.”

Later, I drew inspiration from Berlin and cafés like Bonanza. During that time, triathlon took me to places where specialty coffee was a natural part of the day. Since then, I’ve been exploring it more and more deeply.

 

I approach roasting with a combination of curiosity and precision. When selecting beans, I rely on terroir, processing methods, and the consistency of my suppliers.

When roasting, I work with data from cuppings, temperature curves, and repeated taste testing. I’m most drawn to fruity and floral profiles, which bring clarity and brightness to the cup.

## Vision

Rye Island Roastery was founded with the goal of bringing specialty coffee to Rye Island I believe in education and open dialogue with customers and coffee shops alike.

What I enjoy most is the moment when the coffee’s origin truly comes through in the cup.

 

## Why I Do This

I enjoy seeking out terroirs with character and bringing out the maximum flavor through roasting.

When a customer has that “aha” moment and understands the difference between coffee from a roastery and coffee from the supermarket shelf, I know we’ve done a good job.
